Best Thing Ever: Winter Centerpieces

19 January 2011

Picking beautiful things is remarkably simple and easy.   Isn't it easy to fall head over heels in love with the endless choices of pretty, beautiful things.

Now, if you ask me, my ideal winter centerpieces are always simple with a seasonal motif like branches or tree logs.  One material that I LOVE is  - the fabulous silvery hued birch log.  In design, I try not to overuse the lovely birch log because I find too many designers using them throughout the year.    The birch log became an instant love for me when I first set my eyes on this centerpiece by Ornamento at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay party for Grace Ormonde several years back. Haven't found anything quite like it.

A little background about this fabulous piece.  Ornamento designed the modern, wintery centerpiece with two components. That's it. You don't need a ton of things to create something magical, awesome, wonderful, I could go on and on. This is everything I love about design!

If you are curious, the designer used white sweet peas and massed them in the log as if it was one organic piece. The hollowed log is a magnificient choice as a vessel.
